Yom Kippur Fellowship Style
Circle of Forgiveness

In the spirit of Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, this year, Fellowship will be celebrating our own Circle of Forgiveness. Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year in the Jewish tradition. In Judaism, a person seeks to amend his or her behavior and seek forgiveness for wrongs done against God and against other human beings.

AT THE FELLOWSHIP we teach that SIN means "missing the mark" in our intention to practice only love. And for Fellowshipians following A Course In Miracles teaching on sin and forgiveness, we further believe...

"Forgiveness, truly given, is the way in which your only hope of freedom lies. Others will make mistakes and so will you, as long as this illusion of a world appears to be your home. Yet God Himself has given all His Sons a remedy for all illusions that they think they see. Christ's vision does not use your eyes, but you can look through His and learn to see like Him. His the eyes that look past error to the Christ in you." Song of Prayer, A.C.I.M.

True forgiveness is an opportunity for liberation from the failures of the past. It is a process of self-renewal and self-creation that comes about as a result of reflection and a powerful resolution to effect real change in our lives, both as individuals, and in our communal and national life. There is a feeling of great power when a community examines itself and then seeks to change and rectify matters.

In the spirit of Yom Kippur, this year, Fellowship will be celebrating our own Circle of Forgiveness on Saturday, September 18, from 10 am to 12 noon at 2722 E. Michigan Ave. This ceremony is intended to offer an opportunity to heal, and release the past for all who choose to attend.... We invite you to also take the days from September 8th to 18th to meditate and pray in your own way about the principle of forgiveness and sincerely examine your hearts for areas of your lives and situations around which you would like to come into forgiveness.

To assist you, we will be e-mailing a daily quote on forgiveness between Sept. 8th and the 18th to anyone who would like to participate. If you would like the quotes sent to you, please send an e-mail to Denise Wootton at thewoots@hotmail.com

Continuing Our Minister Selection Process:

After prayerful consideration, the Minister Selection Committee has recommended, and the Steering Committee has approved, that Brad Miller and Erin Fry shall move forward in the minister selection process. Both candidates will present a second talk and participate in an interview.

The selection process will continue in this way:

  1. Each candidate will speak at our Sunday Service: Erin Fry will speak on August 8 and Brad Miller will speak on August 15.
  2. Town Hall Meetings: During the week of August 15 FFT members will be invited to attend Town Hall Meetings where feedback regarding the candidates will be received. The information gathered at the Meetings will be used to guide the interview process. Town Hall Meetings will be held at our Michigan Avenue Center on: Thursday, August 19, 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. and later that day from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.  PLEASE respond by email indicating which Town Hall Meeting you'll be attending.
  3. Interviews with the candidates will occur on Friday, August 20.
  4. When the interviews are completed, the Selection Committee will make their final recommendation to the Steering Committee.
  5. During the week of August 30, a special Steering Committee meeting will be held to deliberate and determine the recommendation of who will be our next minister.
  6. The membership will then VOTE to approve or disapprove the recommendation made by the Steering Committee to the Membership. The vote will take place at our annual 'Special Membership Meeting' scheduled for Sunday, September 12.

Your prayers, participation and support are requested and very appreciated as we move along in this process.

With Gratitude,

Grace Menzel
For the Steering Committee

Food Bank Sunday will be the second Sunday of each month.

The idea is for each of us to bring any type of food that can be stored without refrigeration to church on that Sunday. There will be 3 half bushel baskets up front and you can go to the front and place your can in the basket before or just following the service second Sunday. Our goal will be to fill them each time.

This activity is based on suggestions from FFT members during the Wagon Circling meetings held last June 26 and 27. Several members had the idea to find ways to contribute from our abundance by taking action in our larger community.

OUR 'FOUNDATION OF FORTY' IS LAUNCHED!!  And YOU are needed!!

Dear Fellowship Members & Friend,

You're receiving this note as an invitation to become a member of the Fellowship's FOUNDATION OF FORTY. The Foundation of Forty is a group of members and friends who are willing to put a strong foundation under the Fellowship as we move toward our next big step of hiring a minister, and challenge ourselves to be 'all that we can be'.

As you may know, we have identified the Fellowship as a Spiritual Teaching & Learning Community. Our mission is 'Learning & Living Love, Together.' As students of healing consciousness, we enthusiastically join together embracing this life opportunity!! We are now receiving our ministerial candidates and preparing our budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year. The Foundation members provide the dependable financial foundation needed as we hire and plan for the next year.

What is asked of a Foundation member? The willingness to provide a dependable financial gift, of any amount, to the Fellowship on a monthly basis. Our preference is to receive this gift by Electronic Funds Transfer, and or as an automatic monthly credit card charge. We're thrilled to report we already have 32 Foundation members. Their names are listed below, we hope you'll join us. The Fellowship is definitely worth our support.

Jane Zussman, Grace Menzel, David Dubuc, Bonnie Dawson, Barb Siler, Beth Monteith, Marla Mitchell-Cichon, Larry Hutchinson, Kay Taylor, Gary Novak, Phylis Floyd, Bill Paddock, Sandy Dykins, Deborah Goro, Julia White, Denise Wootton, Cindy Zuker, Mary Molloy, Diane Blakeman, Randy Laney, Bob Teachout, Roselind Roche, Jean Herford, Heather MacLachlan, Kathleen Coe, Brad Miller, Julia Freije, Elise Harvey, Phyllis Nix, Nancy Bernthal & (2) Anonymous.

If you want to be part of our Foundation of Forty (and help us have 60 members by August 1), please just reply to this email with the word YES and we'll send you the enrollment info. THANK YOU!

Sincerely,

The Foundation of Forty Members, on behalf of the Fellowship
