The Philosophy of Fellowship for Today Tithing

On A Personal Level

On the personal level we are taught to tithe ten percent of
our gross income to the source of our spiritual food be it a church, a group,
or an individual. When we tithe we send out our loving energy and gratitude
that then touches and enfolds the recipients. In this way we encourage others
in their work and acknowledge that what they are doing has touched us at a deep
spiritual level. Because all thought and intention is vibration, the thoughts
and loving intentions of those we tithe to come back to us. We can often feel
surrounded by the presence of their love.

Amalie Frank, spiritual mentor for many Fellowshipians tells
us "As I learned more about tithing and the importance of the spirit of giving,
I discovered that a closed fist can neither give nor receive. It becomes
necessary to open the hand and the mind in order to nourish the attitude that
leads to a spirit of giving. It is important to be ready to receive as well as
to give. . . . We shall find that as we give with a willing heart and an open
mind our thoughts of lack will disappear. We shall develop a consciousness of
abundance. . . . Our abundance will be evident in every area of our life. As we
step forth in faith and give the whole tithe, we shall reap the peace and joy
and love and health and abundance that are our birthright as God's children."

On A Group Level

Tithing by a group such as the Fellowship for Today has a
different dimension. We are not especially tithing to the source of our
spiritual food but we are recognizing from the mission of the group or
individual that their work has important spiritual dimensions usually in
service to others. When we tithe to groups we are looking for those whose
missions are consistent or supportive of the principles of the Fellowship for
Today. Our tithing to other groups and our commitment to reach not only locally
but beyond our own community takes the Fellowship's loving energy and sends it
around the world! Tithing sets a vibration that reverberates throughout the
universe linking us to the loving energy of other groups as the Fellowship
honors these groups. In our tithing we encourage others to respond from the
highest principles as they reach out to humanity. Through tithing we remain in
and are part of this energy of compassion and love that tithing creates,

The ability to see how this tithe from the Fellowship
affects our community and the world is vital to understanding the importance of
tithing. It is not just money. It is the purpose and energy to help others, to
encourage others, to inspire others to do more service. We look for others who
embody the ministry of the Fellowship around the world and who share the
highest vision for humankind and the environment and are involved in changing
lives and helping others.

The tithing concept of the Fellowship for Today is unique.
Most churches give back to their mother church or a missionary of their faith.
We believe in the tithe of prosperity and have done this from the very
beginning of the Fellowship for Today. This concept of tithing permeates the
structure of the Fellowship for Today. As the Fellowship for Today is tithed
to, so does the Fellowship for Today tithe to others.
